Canongate I Golf Club

Canongate I Golf Club, located in Sharpsburg, Georgia, was the first of the Canongate golf courses. It originally opened in 1965 with 18 holes designed by world-renowned architects Dick Wilson and Joe Lee. An additional 18 holes were added in 1999, creating the 36-hole facility that members know and love today.  Architects Rocky Roquemore and Jeff Burton were responsible for the addition. Besides being a flagship Canongate golf course, the Club offers its members swimming, tennis and dining amenities, as well.

This unique, 36-hole Club features four distinct nines that integrate seamlessly into the surrounding natural area, making it a favorite among all of our members.

The course itself was in great condition considering the time of year. Unfortunately, we were stuck behind a men's group that was playing in 5-somes. The pace of play was horrible - watch out for the 5-somes here. (It's become an allowed practice here).

I have been a member of this course for over 20 years and it has NEVER been in such good condition. The course improvements are fantastic and it is a real pleasure to play. The restaurant has some great new menu items and the entire club staff is outstanding.
