Stephen Haupt, 5/14/2013 12:40:24 AM EST Great course. Very difficult with demanding tee shots. I do have one complaint and a guest even approached maintenance about this....the greens are very slow and bumpy. Guest asked when they were cut last and were told it had been 2 days. Went back the next day and asked someone about this and given same answer....they were cut 3 days ago but were double rolled. I am sure this is a cost saving measure but with Bermuda greens it is very easy to get bumpy if not maintained daily. Pull the people off of weed whacking focus on the greens. With this being said If the greens were smooth and fast the course could almost be unplayable to an average golfer since the green are very undulating.
Peter Bennie, 3/18/2013 10:30:52 AM EST Greens are quick, good, and challenging. Condition of the course could improve (cart paths. Overall very good test. Fairways are undulating and very narrow on several holes. Nice Clubhouse facilities.
Jack Getz, 1/17/2013 6:43:00 PM EST New greens a quick and appear to be settling in. Needs help on cart paths in numerous places. The husbandry of trees is an improvement. I like the course and think its a good test of skills, even for the long hitters.
Sang Chul Lee, 12/2/2012 5:32:07 PM EST Overall condition of this course needs to be improved. Greens are sandy, cartpath needs to be patched at numerous location, need better landscaping thru-out....etc. According to Canongate app, overall course rating is 4 out of 5 with greens rated at full 5 stars. I don't agree with that at all.
Susan Gilbert, 10/22/2012 3:38:38 PM EST Outstanding greens! Beautiful course.
Sedrick Teemer, 8/31/2012 7:39:57 AM EST The greens were very fast!!! It is a very challenging course from the back tees. The blind shots make the course very taxing. I am looking forward to playing Smoke Rise again.
Ju Chan Hwang, 2/1/2012 1:34:02 PM EST it is nice but dont play here if ur good
Christopher Kim, 1/2/2012 8:53:10 PM EST some front nine holes still look under construction. there were some greens still damaged and number 9 green for example looks aerated...however i really enjoyed playing the back nine. may go play again when it warms up
Miles Mitchell, 12/9/2011 11:32:20 PM EST Terrible!
Julian Shane Hobby, 11/17/2011 7:29:40 PM EST This is not worth paying the rate of $29, The Greens were rated (B)I play 95 to 115 rounds of golf year and I want say they are a (C-) and the tee box,s are still in bad shape. And to top the day off we came back to the car to fine the car window smashed and all articles stolen in the middle of the day. 11/11/11
Geoff Weirich, 10/7/2011 2:02:25 PM EST Although Smoke Rise lost its greens this summer and currently is on temporaries, they are scheduled to reopen October 11th with newly cultivated Poa greens, prior to a transition in June 2012 to Champion Bermuda. When the greens are in good condition, as they were all spring prior to the heat wave, Smoke Rise is an outstanding shotmaker's course. Really long hitters won't use their driver very often here, but will get many occasions to shape fairway woods, long irons or hybrids off the tee.
TA, 8/5/2011 3:09:52 PM EST Thy greens were sloweth.

Kirkland N. Lincoln II, 7/1/2011 9:37:45 PM EST Played Smoke Rise on 6/30. I was very dissappointed to learn that the greens were aerated. I checked the aeration schedule that is posted on the Canongate website, and they aerated in March, and was supposed to aerate again in September. Driving an hour plus to play this course, I was not happy to see this. But I should have called right? The clubhouse is great, the staff was a little "snooty" but hey, comes with the atmosphere. I absolutely hate the layout of Smoke Rise. There are too many blind shots, and some of the holes are gimmicky. It's like they didn't have enough land to build a course, and crammed 18 holes of golf on a 9 hole tract. I'm sure if the greens would have been in better shape, we'd have had a better time. The tee boxes were some of the best I've seen in Canongate, and the fairways were very nice as well.. I'd play it again in a couple of months to check out the greens, but I'll be sure to call 1st. If you like Stone Mountain Park golf course, you'll like this.... and you guessed it, I hate Stone Mountain too....lol (leave your driver at home)
white oak golfer, 6/29/2011 9:37:04 PM EST Made the drive out to Smoke Rise on 6/29 for first time. Enjoyed holes but greens are really bad. Would like to play this again when greens are puttable ---- but for now - not worth the price
John Doe member, 6/27/2011 8:18:18 PM EST Agree with another poster about greens here. Played this past Sunday 6/26 and will definitely lose our greens. Already #13 lost and others plus putting green are very bad. Another year of paying monthly dues (should be discounted if no greens to play) and no golf course to play if temporaries used again. Very disappointing and bad choice of grass for greens.
Robert W., 6/27/2011 6:32:35 PM EST Decent track, but losing greens 2 years in a row is ridiculous. Just rebuilt and still can't get it right?
Davis, 6/26/2011 2:38:06 PM EST Awesome experience

Craig g Bolles, 5/12/2011 10:35:52 AM EST We were greeted immediatley as we came into Pro Shop. The Pro was extremely friendy and people orintated. We all took notice of this.Computer was down and he handled the sign in with ease.He gave us the tour of the facilities and since the snack bar was not open was kind enough to direct us back to the main road for a quick meal place. We thought the course was difficult due to the hills due to our ages.I had 2 bad holes on each side which i relate to not knowing the hole. all in all the drive from Summergrove was fairly easy 1 hour 20 mins.We had a great time .We left tired ,but with a smile on our face. Please gice the staff an atta boy.Yes, i plan to go back in the future.
